Product Description

Perhaps the most powerful influence in the world is that of a dad on his child. Baseball gloves, dirty diapers, tiny little hands, first days of school, daddy-daughter dances, and learner's permits... and so much more! There's no way you can be ready for it all, but this is when you need to get a bit of a head start...

First Time Dad by Focus on the Family ministry veteran (and father of 6) John Fuller lets you in on the stuff you really need to know... because in just a few months or weeks or days, your life is going to change--forever. Set good priorities. Break bad habits and/or family patterns. Recognize and recover from some common fathering mistakes. Know that your words have immense power. And learn how to cultivate a lasting parent-child relationship. So, instead of wondering "oh man, oh man, oh man... what am I going to do now?" for 9 months... read this short book (plus it's pretty fun too) and get excited!

"Dad, your job is critical... And you can do it."

I can't think of a better resource for new fathers than John Fuller's excellent new book, First-Time Dad.  This is exactly what is desperately needed today.  I write as one who has seen firsthand what happens when Dad isn't there.  It's the lack of a male role model that has caused hundreds of thousands of young Americans to turn to the gangs and then end up in prison.  I'm grateful to my friend John for producing such a tremendous resource.

I remember leaving the hospital with our new baby. I had never held a child as young as ours, and couldn't believe they were letting us take her home. I desperately wanted them to give me an "instruction manual" that day -- and while it's a little late for us, you're holding a perfect tool for you if you're about to become a "First-Time Dad!" Get his practical, encouraging, biblical, humorous, must-read book for that "First-Time Dad" in your life!

Where was this 30 years ago when I could have really used it?  Here are real-world tips from a six-time dad and a master communicator. Fun, memorable, useful.  Guys, buy this book if you want to learn how to be more than merely the "masculine parental unit" – it'll teach you how to be what you've always wanted to be – an awesome Dad!  Thanks John.  BTW – it's helping me be a better "Papa" too for my grandson Michael!

I've seen John Fuller interact with his own kids.  He's the kind of dad that is always intentionally thinking about how to invest in the lives of his kids to make them better.  He knows how to prioritize family, and walk the delicate balance of being a successful professional and a successful father.   First-Time Dad will help fathers understand what to expect when kids enter the family, how to continue loving their wives in the context of the family, and ultimately how to be a dad kids will look up to and respect.  Thanks John.  We need this book!
