About the Authors

KEVIN MUNGONS is a Chicago-based writer and editor. A longtime church musician, he researches and writes about gospel music, early recordings, and radio.

PHIL SHAPPARD served as Moody Radio's national operations manager before retiring in 2020. He studied at Toccoa Falls College and later graduated with a BS in Business Management from Elmhurst University in Elmhurst, IL. Phil and his wife, Nora, have three grown children and nine grandchildren, and make their home in the western suburbs of Chicago.
