Captain Ed Ulrich (1922-2003) served as a pilot with Christian and Missionary Alliance in New Guinea, then with Kroonduif, a KLM subsidiary airline, and later with the CIA's Air America in southeast Asia. He and his wife Elaine lived in Sharon, Pennsylvania, and were both active members of the North Mar Alliance Church in Warren, Ohio. They have four adult children.
