JAMES S. BELL, JR. earned his B.A. in English from Holy Cross College in Massachusetts, and his M.A. in English Literature from University College in Dublin, Ireland. He is currently the owner of Whitestone Communications, a literary development agency. He has previously served as executive editor at Moody Press, director of religious publishing at Doubleday, and publisher at Bridge Publishing.

Mr. Bell is the author of six books, including the bestselling Complete Idiot's Guide to the Bible. He has received cover credit for more than fifteen books which he compiled, edited, or introduced. His specialty is classic literature, including revisions of "Quo Vadis" and "Ben Hur". He has also contributed numerous Christian volumes to the best-selling Cup of Comfort series by Adams Media.

Mr. Bell lives in West Chicago with his wife, Margaret, and four children.
