Trusted Resources for over 125 Years
In 1894 our founder, D. L. Moody, got fed up with the lack of affordable Christian books. Determined to make evangelical reading materials available to everyone—including the poor and imprisoned—he formed the Bible Institute Colportage Association (BICA). By creating an innovative printing strategy, he was able to sell books for 25 cents each, beginning with All of Grace by Charles Spurgeon. That first book is still in our line over 115 years later.
By the time BICA became Moody Press in 1941, almost 34 million copies of sermons, Bible teaching, doctrinal books, and New Testaments had been published, and over 43 million gospel tracts had been distributed. In the nearly eight decades since, Moody Press (now Moody Publishers) has distributed more than 300 million books in over 71 languages and 130 countries around the world.
With an unwavering commitment to our founder’s vision—making Christian growth materials available to everyone—Moody Publishers continues to publish books and resources that glorify God, serve the church’s work of discipling all people, and make Jesus Christ known throughout the world.
Helping Train Ministry Workers Around the Globe
Eight years before launching what has become Moody Publishers, D. L. Moody founded a Bible school in Chicago, now known as The Moody Bible Institute. Today, Moody is one of the most well-known evangelical institutions in the world, training thousands of people for pastoral ministry, media ministry, cross-cultural missions work, and more.
And when you buy a book from Moody Publishers, you’re helping make that vital ministry training possible. Each year, our profits go directly to the school to support the tuition-paid education of more than 1,500 students. Currently there are more than 40,000 Moody graduates serving God around the globe.
So why shop at Moody Publishers? Because with every book you buy, you help fund the training of students who will carry the gospel to every corner of the world. In this way, you partner not just with The Moody Bible Institute, but with the work of our founder, D. L. Moody, who prayed that “the work would go on till every knee is bowed!”
