Is our Christianity that of the New Testament?
"God and men and their relation to each other—this I believe to be all that really matters in the world, and that is what I have written about here."
—A. W. Tozer
Like a physician running a biopsy on lifeless faith, here A. W. Tozer offers one of the most compelling critiques of feigned spirituality you may ever read.
In Of God and Men, Tozer exposes false religious notions and lifts up true New-Testament Christianity. A loving and gentle critique of culture and even the church, it reveals lies we unknowingly believe, godless practices we unknowingly do, and treasures of Christ we unknowingly ignore. A manifesto of true religion, Of God and Men will set your foot on the narrow path and lift your heart in soaring worship.
If you’ve ever read anything from Tozer, you realize his clarity of thought & spiritual reality was spot-on. If you have never read Tozer, you are missing out on someone who could seemingly gauge the temperature of Christianity in his day and in ours.
This is one of Tozer’s titles that flies under the radar of his other books, but it does not lack spiritual potency. Once again, he hits the nail on the head and beckons people to evaluate their heart & lifestyle according to the scriptures.
Tozer’s books bring with them a clear call on whatever the subject matter he is writing on. He does not dilly-dally or beat around the bush. He simply lets the truth fly and fall upon those who have ears to hear.
But Tozer’s desire in his writings is that all would be awakened to the reality of faith. You can see within this book that he is calling for people to be awakened from their slumber and into the sobering understanding of the God that they claim they know & follow.
You will not regret reading anything from Tozer, including this volume, even though it is not one of his more famous pieces.
"Of God and Men" by A.W. Tozer is a book with quick little chapters that breakdown false religion ideas and brings up the true New Testament Christian church. This is one easiest books of Tozer's I have ever read. The chapters are quick reads on false things we shouldn't be or should be focused on for example there is a chapter on how no Christian should feel resentment. This book would be good as a devotional and going deeper in the scriptures yourself for each chapter. Very good book and I highly recommend it.
