Product Description

What every pastor wants: more time.

The clock is every pastor's nemesis. Between meetings, administration, counseling, and other duties, it's hard to find enough time for sermon prep.

Unless you change the process.

8 Hours Or Less will show preachers how to write the same sermons they've been writing, but in half the time. Author Ryan Huguley reveals:

  • The biggest time-wasters in sermon prep
  • The five marks of a faithful sermon
  • A day-by-day plan for writing sermons
  • Tips for preparing your mind, heart, and notes for preaching
  • Common pitfalls in ending a sermon
    And more

Huguley is a pastor and the host of a podcast featuring leaders like Matt Chandler, James MacDonald, Doug Wilson, and Nancy Ortberg. What he shares in 8 Hrs or Less is a process he's been refining for six years, and it has radically improved both his preaching and experience in ministry.

Why work harder when you can work smarter? 8 Hours or Less brings relief to the time crunch and helps pastors be healthier, more balanced, and more effective—all without making their sermons suffer for it.

Go ahead & judge this book by it's may be thinking "Oh, a book that diminishes the priority of preaching & significant preparation."

If that is your thought, you are wrong.

In fact, this books weighs the worth of preaching & proper preparation and therefore emphasizes the great importance of it. You will discover that the author implies that because preaching is so vital & the preparation so significant, one must really aim to do it right and do it well.

This book is truly helpful for the pastor who struggles with time management & seems to always be in crunch-time by the end of the week. The author shares from his personal journey of learning how to prepare to preach every week. You will find that the author did not have this figured out for quite a long time & fought every week the challenge of finding the time to get it all in by Sunday.

Therefore, you can trust that the author is writing from experience & from mistakes that he personally learned from. That is exactly what you want in a book that is instructional in nature.

This is a resource for all pastors who are rookies or seasoned, because of the teachability and tools that this book offers to all.

Ryan Huguley’s book “8 Hours or Less” is an excellent resource for new preachers or veterans. He begins the book by defining what a faithful sermon is and why it is important. He goes throughout the week and how to prepare to preach faithful sermons. This book gives preachers hope in preparing to preach Christ-centered sermons without the pressure of celebrity preachers bragging on how many hours they spend in preparation.

This book is extremely helpful for bi-vocational pastors. In chapter 5, Huguley speaks about clarity as being king in communication. He challenges the readers to be clear about what they are trying to say and about what Christ has done. In this chapter, he builds upon the previously chapters by talking about landing the plane in the sermon. This chapter will cause preachers to think hard and prayerful about the text is saying and the application of it.

I highly recommend this book to all present and future preachers.
