Shelly Beach has invested her life in the field of communication as an educator, administrator, writer, and writing consultant for the past thirty years. Her writing has been published in both the secular and religious markets in a wide variety of genres including poetry, short stories, feature articles, and interviews. Shelly speaks at writers’ conference, seminars, retreats, schools, and women’s conferences through the Midwest. She is the co-founder of the Cedar Falls Christian Writer’s Workshop in Cedar Falls, Iowa, as well as a co-founder of the Breathe Christian Writer’s Workshop in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. She is also the co-founder of PTSDPerspectives.org and provides consulting services on post-traumatic stress disorder as a trauma survivor to medical, mental health, law enforcement, church and other professionals. Shelly is the author of eight books and co-author of numerous others with a Pulitzer Prize finalist, New York Times best-selling author, presidential advisor, and other national leaders. Her first novel, Hallie’s Heart (Kregel Publications 2007 won a Christy Award for contemporary Christian fiction. Her book of meditations on caregiving, Precious Lord, Take My Hand (Discovery House Publishers), which also released in April 2007, now has over 100,000 copies in print. It Is Well with My Soul, Shelly’s most recent caregiving release and third in the series, released in 2013. She is also a caregiving expert for Caring.com, writing to an audience of over 2 million. Shelly also presents seminars on her book The Silent Seduction of Self-Talk in seminars, conferences, and in prisons across the nation as a speaker with Daughters of Destiny prison ministry.In the editorial field, Shelly has also served as managing editor of specialty Bibles for Zondervan and was a contributing feature writer for the Stewardship Bible (Crossway Books).Shelly is a graduate of Oakland University and Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. She and her husband Dan reside in Rockford, Michigan, where they attend Blythefield Hills Church. They have two adult children who reside in Iowa and Washington State.
