The author links the works of two great authors who were also dear friends. Narnia and Middle-earth, were places “where honor and chivalry stand poised in mortal combat with the life-denying, faith-denying, hope-denying forces of evil”. Each chapter takes up a single theme-message-moral that has been overlooked or dismissed by our age. We are part of the story, too. Just as Frodo and Bilbo realized their story was woven into the greater story, so we are grafted into God’s great story.

With the film adaption of The Hobbit nearly upon us, this is presumably just one of several Hobbit-themed books coming our way. It looks excellent. http://www.challies.com/resources/new-notable-books-8?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed: challies/XhEt (Challies Dot Com)
