The prophet Nehemiah's cousin can speak numerous languages, keep complex accounts, write on rolls of parchment and tablets of clay, and solve great mysteries. There is only one problem: she's a woman in a man's court.

In her early childhood years, Sarah experienced the death of her mother and her father's subsequent emotional distance, and she came to two conclusions: God does not care about me, and my accomplishments are the measure of my worth.

Catapulted into the center of the Persian court, Sarah is working too many hours, rubbing elbows with royalty, and solving intrigues for the Queen. Ironically, it isn't failure—but success—that causes Sarah to lose her only source of external validation.

Sarah soon learns that she has something of worth to offer beyond her ability with languages and sums; her very being proves to be a blessing to others, particularly the aristocrat Darius, whom she is given to in marriage.

Sarah and Darius' story continues in Harvest of Gold. Darius may be able to learn to love his wife, but can he ever learn to trust Sarah and her Lord?

This was a truly fun read. I loved it! Yes, it was indeed a reach but I was happy to go there. Sarah is so well developed and watching her grow up and ultimately fall in love with her husband was delightful. The scribe aspect was very interesting as well. When an author can help the reader fully engage in another time and place they have a win. This was a win. Read it, you won't be sorry! http://melmacsreviews.blogspot.com/2013/03/harvest-of-rubies.html

I found myself fully engaged mentally and emotionally with the story. You will get emotionally vested in the story of Sarah and Darius, and thoughtful about your own relationship with God. This is a great love story that could play out on stage or on screen. Any movie made from this book would surely become a classic that would be loved for generations to come, as the book will become a favorite for anyone who reads it. http://radiantlit.com/2013/01/review-harvest-of-rubies/

This was such a spiritually moving book. Plus, I enjoyed the deep love story developing between the husband & wife. I loved how the author took what is common to mankind and made it relevant to a spiritual journey today. It really made me think about things in my life. Plus, it was well written & I became lost in the story. Since a lot of books seem to lose my attention lately, this story was especially delightful because I wanted to keep reading it. http://www.amazon.com/review/R1RJK9FBPS2WLR

This was an excellent novel. It kept me wanting to read more. I enjoyed the incorporation of biblical history. As I read this novel I frequently thought about how the things the main character experienced and how she handled them while growing Spiritually is a great example for us today. Through trial and error Sarah (main character) realizes that she has much to offer besides her knowledge of numerous languages. http://encouragechristianreaders.blogspot.com/

Afshar is an amazing storyteller. I enjoyed the first novel so much that it led me to seek out her newest release, Harvest of Rubies. Her first book made me really dive into an old Bible story in a new way. Her second book really makes you take a second look at where a person finds value. In all, I'm thrilled to have discovered a new author. I highly recommend her work - and will probably put them on my "re-read" list. http://www.myscrappylife.com/2012/07/blog-tour-meet-tessa-afshar-reviews.html

I found myself imagining myself as a lowly Jewish girl living alone with a father whose work occupied most of his time and attention. God used the situations in Sarah’s life to show her the true value she held in simply being His child. As is often the case, the pressure of life transformed Sarah into the woman He created her to be. Harvest of Rubies is a wonderful book that exemplifies God’s sovereignty & grace toward His children. http://sweetpea0944.wordpress.com/2012/09/10/harvest-of-rubies/
